RESTAURANT & SOUVENIR SHOPS

Casa do João Restaurante y Armazémhas two nice shops in Bonito; one combined with restaurant at the below address and the other shop on Bonito’s main street Rua Cel Pilad Rebuá, next to Allegra Gelato e Café

The shops offer a great variety of products and nice souvenirs from organic soap to paintings, woodcrafts and local delicacies.

COLONIAL HOUSE WITH RECYCLED WOOD

The main shop is located in the second house that was constructed in Bonito; the oldest surviving colonial house that exists in Bonito. Another nice thing about Casa do João is that the wood of the interior structure is made of ecologically recycled wood from the region

The atmosphere of both the shops and the restaurant is pleasant and you can find nice details and decoration everywhere. Also, service is excellent.

TRAIRA FISH FAMOUSLY DIFFICULT TO DE-BONE

The famous dish at Casa do João that started the restaurant is traíra sem spino (without spines)a local predatory fish famously difficult to de-boneAfter removing the bones, they deep-fry the fish with the aim to eliminate any possibly remaining bones. It comes with a Brazilian specialty pirão (fish sauce) and a tasty special home-made sauce.

OTHER OPTIONS

Casa do João serves other Brazilian dishes too, such as moqueca (fish stew), arroz carreteiro (´truckers´ rice) and there are many more options.

Though the season of the regional guavira fruit is November, Casa do João serves delicious guavira juice (from frozen pulp) all-year-round.

Even if you don´t eat at the restaurant, it is worthwhile visiting this house and the shops.
