This ‘sorveteria’ only has one problem; it’s so hard to choose between the different sorvetes y gelatos as they’re all excellent.

ALL NATURAL & FRESH INGREDIENTS, INCLUDING BRAZILIAN FLAVOURS

Lizandra Petinari, owner and creator of Allegra, invents new flavours herself and had over 30 different flavours in the first 10 months since she started her business in early 2016. Always she serves vanilla and Belgian chocolate, but the other flavours change every day and all are made with solely natural and fresh ingredients, without artificial flavours nor colouring.

Several flavours contain typical Brazilian ingredients, such as Guavira (a fruit only found in this region), Doce de Leite (Brazilian ´caramelised milk´) and Romeu y Julieta (cheese and goiabada; guava paste). Some of our favourites were those three as well as the black and white ice-creams; ´Extra Black´ (dark chocolate) and Coco. Her personal favourite is Yogurt with Cherries, outstanding too.

CHEERFUL CAFE & OWNER

Lizandra lived in Spain for three years and it was so hot that she ate a lot of ice cream. When she came back to Brazil, she missed it because there was no good ice-cream. As it is hot in Bonito too, she guessed that anybody here would want (good) ice cream too and right she was. Her café proves to be a great success, very well deserved.

Lizandra named her shop ‘Allegra‘ (Italian for cheerful) because of the colourful and cheerful interior, nicely designed by Marcos de Castro, who also designed the interiors of Turquesa and Casa do Joao. However, we find Lizandra as cheerful as the interior; with her great smile and great enthusiasm to let you taste any or all of her amazing flavours.

OTHER DESSERTS & SAVORY DISHES TOO

Besides ice-creams, she serves other desserts and savoury dishes too, including savoury waffles, escondidinhos (the one with carne seca (dried beef) was fantastic) and more Brazilian specialties.

We tried the Petit Gateau; a molten cake, normally in chocolate flavour but here with a nice twist to it; Doce de Leite cake with Guavira ice-cream; a match made in heaven!
